CPM examples

Find your budget

At a $12.50 CPM across 400,000 impressions, budget = (12.50 × 400,000) ÷ 1,000 = $5,000.

Find impressions from a budget

With a $5,000 budget at a $12.50 CPM, impressions = (5,000 ÷ 12.50) × 1,000 = 400,000.

Find the CPM

A $5,000 spend that delivered 400,000 impressions works out to a $12.50 CPM.

Frequently asked questions

How do I calculate CPM?
CPM = (Budget ÷ Impressions) × 1,000. Divide your total spend by the number of impressions, then multiply by 1,000.
How many impressions can I buy with $50,000?
Divide the budget by the CPM and multiply by 1,000. At a $10 CPM, $50,000 buys (50,000 ÷ 10) × 1,000 = 5,000,000 impressions.
What CPM do I need to hit 10 million impressions?
CPM = (Budget ÷ 10,000,000) × 1,000. With a $100,000 budget that's a $10 CPM; with $50,000 it's a $5 CPM.
What is a good CPM?
It varies widely by channel, format, targeting, and seasonality, so there's no universal benchmark. Use CPM to compare like-for-like placements rather than as an absolute target.
What's the difference between CPM and CPC?
CPM prices 1,000 impressions, while CPC prices a single click. Use the CPC calculator when you're buying or measuring on clicks instead of impressions.
